Cannabinoids are a group of compounds that are located in the marijuana plant. Cannabis has been used a remedy for pain for over a thousand years and is currently being studied extensively because of its anti inflammatory effects. This paper will look at the potential benefits of cannabis and how it can be efficient in treating chronic pain. Also, the paper will look at the possible side effects brought on by consumption of cannabis.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of the constituents of cannabinoids and it is proven to have anti inflammatory effects on animal cells. The right dosage of THC can be effective in treating chronic pain according to previous studies. THC has given cannabis a bad reputation in recent years because of its psychotropic adverse side effects. Medical cannabis is band in the united states because of potential abuse.
Cannabis is moderately effective in treating chronic pain
Patients were administered with cannabis in 18 controlled studies. These trials concluded that cannabis treatment is moderately effective for people with chronic pain and the beneficial effects may be because of the offset by potentially serious harms. There needs to be more studies in the effectiveness of cannabis to treat pain before a real conclusion is made.
