A Study on Cannabis and Schizophrenia

A placebo-controlled study recently investigated the potential of CBD as a treatment for patients suffering from psychosis. The trial involved 88 participants, all of whom had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The participants were separated into two different groups. The first group was prescribed with a 1,000mg dose of cannabidiol (CBD). The second group was prescribed with a placebo. Over the course of 6 weeks the participants took the antipsychotic medications that their own doctors have prescribed for them.

The researchers found that CBD was very effective at reducing symptoms. They also found that the participants who took CBD over the 6 week period received positive assessments from their psychiatrists after the trial concluded.

Due to the fact that cannabis is an illegal substance it’s hard for scientist, researchers and other experts to get their hands on the plant in order to do the tests they need to do. They have to overcome hurdles and a series of evaluations in order to access the plant.

Therefore, a couple of thousand studies have been conducted. Through these studies, it has been discovered that cannabis does, in fact, have medical properties and people have already been using cannabis for treating their ailment who inform the media that cannabis has worked for them. Combine these together and cannabis has gained a huge amount of popularity in recent months to the extent that some governments are now making the necessary steps to legalizing the drug.

If you wish to use CBD and/or CBD and THC it’s important that you consult your physician or other medical experts as they can guide you and inform you on everything you need to know. It’s also important that since cannabis is still illegal around the globe minus a few states and countries, it’s important that before you purchase or consume cannabis that you read up on the laws regarding the plant.
