Jokubas Ziburkus is a Lithuanian-American Neuroscientist. He is a Professor at the University of Houston where he focus’s his research on cannabinoid and the actionsit has on the brain with the emphasis of epilepsy.
Jokubas Ziburkus informs us that
“for the past few years his work has been motivated and has concentrated on a dravet syndrome the dravet syndrome is a catastrophic form of epilepsy it happens in very young children it’s catastrophic because children can have up to hundreds of seizures a week those seizures are untreatable uncontrollable in many cases it’s catastrophic because children do not develop properly they’re having too many seizures for their brain to process other activity and it’s catastrophic because up to 20 percent of these kids die.”
Not only does he mention that cannabis oil having a benefit to children with epileptic seizures, but that research into cannabis oil has proven to help those with aspergers, autism and cancer, and that the people who are affected with any of the above have been using cannabis oil in order to improve their quality of life.
Ziburkus explains that in the second half of the 20th Century, a discovery was made on the an endocannabinoid system. Endocannabinoids are chemicals that are naturally produced and found in our bodies. CBD in cannabis plants, contains the very same chemical compounds, and is proven, when used on the body, increases the level of immune responses.
Ziburkus makes it very clear that he is going to all extents in order to give people a better understanding on the use of medicinal cannabis in children. He does this by asking a musician to play an electrical recording of seizures. The recording of neuron data in the brain from the seizures is 3 minutes long, which can be transferred into notes, which can be transferred into sound. This is to help give people an understanding through alternative ways which is was Ziburkus sets out to do.
