Amy Carter, from the United States, has a son named Jayden, who was diagnosed in early childhood with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He was self-harming, throwing tantrums, kicking and screaming, abusive towards everyone, and was totally controllable. Amy felt extremely helpless.

There are so many different ways to diagnose autism, due to the fact that there are so many different types and different ranges. Autism is measured on an autistic spectrum and most related to social communication and interaction. Some autism symptoms include:

  • Delayed speech development
  • Other developmental delays
  • Intellectual disability
  • Sleeping difficulties
  • Having repetitive movements / repetitive behavior
  • Needing to have a similar routine every day
  • Generalised anxiety disorder
  • Unusual obsessions and interests
  • Obsessive-compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Over a year ago, Amy started to carry out autism research, medical marijuana research, and CBD products and the potential health benefits and side effects it has on sufferers of autism. Amy started to use Cannabis oil as an alternative treatment to treat Jaydens Autism, and had noticed that her son’s tantrums and outbursts had, in her words “virtually gone away”.

Amy says: “It’s been a whole new world, he’s very mindful, he has empathy for others. At school, he is making good choices“.

Since they started using CBD oil as a form of treating Jayden’s Autism, they have been able to reduce his pharmaceutical medication by 80%.
Since Amy Carter has seen such good results in her son’s health from CBD treatment, she became a cannabis advocate. She stated that they were able to seek help and receive a medical marijuana health care for Jayden, but for some of his other problems, other than autism because autism isn’t on the list of “approved conditions”. Amy hopes to change this and to add autism to the approved condition list to make it easier for people who suffer from the condition. Jayden is given two capsules containing medical cannabis containing CDD and THC.

Amy states, “Cannabis has given us a life without bruises, abuse, and anger. He can regulate his emotions and it has unlocked his brain”.
