Blisters are small, fluid filled pockets of skin which occur as the result of rubbing or friction on a specific area of skin. The most common instance of blisters on the feet as a result of bad footwear. You can prevent blisters on your feet by wearing high quality, well fitted shoes.
Although blisters are a very common foot complaint, certain types of manual labour can cause blisters on the hands too. Wearing gloves in the workplace could reduce friction and help you reduce the risk of blisters on your hands, but sometimes they are just unavoidable.
Most people experience blisters at some stage as they are one of the most common foot problems there is. The vast majority of the time blisters heal with no real problems. But, if a blister isn’t looked after properly it can become a much bigger problem. Using CBD to prevent infection and other complications.
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is an oil which extracted through chemical processes from the cannabis plant. Cannabidiol is one of over a hundred chemical compounds found in the plant. Although there are so many of these compounds, also known as cannabinoids, CBD is the one which has been found to have real medicinal value.
CBD has been studied quite a bit in recent years. The legal status of cannabis in the United States has made it difficult for researchers to study it on a large scale though. This means that most of the studies which have been conducted have been of a relatively low scientific quality.
Nonetheless, the results have been promising. Scientists have discovered that cannabidiol interacts with the endocannabinoid system. This is a system of neurotransmitters in the human body, and in the bodies of most other animal species.
These transmitters are thought to be responsible for key bodily functions such as the way we experience pain, skin health and mood regulation. It’s believed that CBD acts as a kind of nutritional supplement to this system and helps to restore balance to it.
CBD has also been found to have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This has made it an increasingly popular home remedy for skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, and chronic pain conditions like Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
But how do these properties affect CBD’s ability to aid in the healing of a blister?
No matter what the cause or location of a blister, the number one priority for its treatment must be keeping it clean at all times. CBD’s ability to act as an antibacterial makes it highly effective at achieving this goal.
If the blister isn’t kept clean, bacteria can enter the site once the blister has burst. Once bacteria have gotten into the sore which lies underneath the blister, it’s extremely easy for it to become infected. Once this happens the blister will fill with yellow pus and become very hot and painful to the touch. It may start to throb with pain.
This should be avoided at all costs as severe infections can have nasty consequences. If an infected blister is ignored, it can lead to secondary impetigo. This is a contagious bacterial infection that can cause permanent damage to the skin.
Thankfully, this is avoidable. By washing the area and then dabbing it very gently a couple of times a day with a cotton pad which has been soaked in CBD oil, the site can be protected against the threat of bacteria and the healing process of the blister can be much faster.
Depending on your line of work or your hobbies, friction blisters could be a common complaint. Most of the time blistered skin won’t cause you much bother, but if not looked after carefully and considerately, they can become the beginning of a much bigger problem.
Using CBD is a great way to prevent this from happening. It is true that this is still very much an experimental treatment without a whole lot of scientific data to back it up, but it has been proven extremely safe to use and impossible to overdose on.
This means that you can pick up a bottle of CBD oil to keep in your home without any real concern about the negative side effects. However, keeping in mind that cannabis remains illegal in much of the United States, it’s important to check the laws regarding CBD in your state before you do.
Remember to never drain a blister yourself. You should let it run it natural course instead. Using an adhesive bandage can help protect it from further damage if you are nervous of it being accidentally burst. If you have a blister right now and it’s showing signs of an infection, make sure to visit your family doctor as soon as possible to address it.
